To further advance AI-empowered short-drama production, multiple AI teams and communities from China, Australia and beyond are jointly launching the 2025 Asia–Pacific AI Short Drama Competition.With the theme “AI Empowers Short Drama, Co-creating a Global Future”, the competition focuses on AI short-form storytelling, aiming to take short dramas from China and the broader Asia–Pacific to global audiences and help young creators step onto the world stage.

Organizers
Australian Vertical Short Drama Association (AVSDA) – Australia’s first industry organization for vertical short dramas and AIGC film/TV.
AI4Culture – A public-interest team dedicated to enabling Chinese culture to “go global” with AI; recently executed the AI Art Exhibition for the Osaka Expo.
Hosts
Hero’s Journey Studio – President unit of AVSDA; specializes in English-language vertical short dramas.
Gaowen Youth – A primary initiator of AI4Culture initiatives; a committee member unit of the China Association for the Promotion of International Exchanges among Non-Governmental Organizations (Humanities Exchange Committee).

Submission Requirements
Themes are generally unrestricted. We welcome works exploring topics such as “Family & Culture,” “Identity & Our Times,” and “East–West Dialogue.”Innovation is encouraged. Genres may include but are not limited to animation, culture, music, and creative advertising. Scripts that incorporate elements from Jiading (Shanghai), Wenzhou (Zhejiang), and intangible cultural heritage are especially encouraged.
Each submission must be an AI short drama comprising:
Script Outline – Text format; in principle designed to a 30-episode or longer standard.
Sample Video – At least 2 minutes, video format, horizontal or vertical accepted, must include an “AI-generated” label.
Submission method: during the submission window, send your script + sample video (via Baidu Netdisk link) and entry info (author + work synopsis) to the committee email: nick.y@hjstudio.au.
Timeline
Sep 1, 2025 – Competition announcement released.
Early Sep 2025 – Detailed rules released.
Mid-Sep to Oct 31, 2025 – Submission period (email materials as above to nick.y@hjstudio.au).
Early Nov 2025 – Preliminary judging by expert panel; top 20 advance to the semifinals.
Late Nov 2025 – Semifinals & Roadshow (on-site) with live scoring by the jury; top 10 advance to the finals. Tentatively in Wenzhou as part of the 2025 Maritime Silk Road Mayors’ Conference – AI-Enabled Culture-Going-Global Forum. Remote video participation is available for those unable to attend in person.
Dec 2025 – Mentorship and polishing period; continued optimization of works and scripts.
Jan 2026 – Grand Final & Award Ceremony in Sydney, Australia (remote video participation available).
Feb 2026 – Release & Global Showcase, with an effort to exhibit at the Sydney Opera House.

Awards
(1) Preliminary Round
All entrants who submit qualified works receive an electronic certificate of participation issued by the Organizing Committee.
(2) Semifinals
All semifinalists receive:
Printed Certificate – “Merit Award” for entries ranked 11–20 (those not entering the finals).
Go-Global Opportunity – Short-Drama AIGC Production Cooperation Agreement with AVSDA; priority partner status with AVSDA and its member units (for China-based semifinalists).
Landing Opportunity – Access to the Wenzhou Smart Valley AI Short-Drama Creation Base provided by Yuanyin Technology, with supportive local government policies upon landing (for China-based semifinalists).
Forum Participation – Invitation to the 2025 Maritime Silk Road Mayors’ Conference – AI-Enabled Culture-Going-Global Forum, plus site visits to Wenzhou Shuomen Ancient Port and historic districts (for China-based semifinalists).
